My favorite piece of plastic is not gold or platinum. I do not earn rewards, discounts or airline miles each time I use it. I cannot swipe it to obtain cash at thousands of convenient ATM locations in 170 countries. Ah, but membership most certainly does have its privileges. If you haven’t guessed yet, I’m talking about my library card. I have such fond memories of exploring the shelves as a young girl, then proudly presenting my very own library card at the counter! I could hardly wait to carry the heavy armload of treasure out the door and into my own little world. To this day, I still feel that little flutter when the librarian checks out my books (go ahead and say it, “Nerd Alert!”).
At any given moment, you’ll find a stack of books beside my favorite living room chair. I will confess now that I sometimes DO judge a book by its cover, and quite often my instincts are proven to be correct. On those occasions when a story doesn’t capture my attention in the first few chapters, I will usually toss it aside. Life’s just too short to waste time reading what bores me.
In the coming days, I will be posting a few book reviews and I’ll be interested to hear what other people are reading. Admittedly, I love to read fiction so that’s what I’ll be reviewing. Sure, there may be the occasional non-fiction book thrown in for good measure, but mostly I read stories. I love stories – sad, funny, bittersweet, thought-provoking stories.
Just a note: As of today, I have not yet found a “Christian” novel that I could read to the end. No offense to any Christian writers out there, but none have piqued my interest. The books I read occasionally contain language or situations that some might find offensive. When reviewing a book, I will do my best to make note of any particularly disturbing scene or subject matter. I realize, and accept, that some may disagree with my reading choices. I tend to believe that nearly every story offers a bit of truth, a lesson to learn…..but I am mindful of those who think otherwise.
Hopefully you will check out my reviews…and in the meantime, check out your own little treasures from the library! Say it again, “Nerd Alert!” I don’t mind at all.

can..not..WAIT!!!!! SERIOUSLY – not sure what “baited breath” actually means BUT i feel certain that i have it right now. i love your mind and thus i’m so very much going to enjoy hearing what you love to put into it.

How come I never read this page before? Have you or Daniel read any more of the Ray Blackston books? I’ve read his first 4, but just checked his website and he’s got 2 more!
